General Information
- Argentina
It is not only a country full of beautiful landscapes but it also meets all the requirements for hosting all kind of meetings in proper settings. Every region in our country offers something different as Argentina contains a wide range of geography. Yet, the most remarkable feature in this wide variety is its unspoiled nature, making the country a very attractive tourist destination. It is worth mentioning that Argentina has been called the land of six continents for its breathtaking scenery and landscapes, such as Iguazú Falls, the Perito Moreno Glacier, Patagonia, and the Quebrada Humahuaca in the North region, the animal lover’s paradise, among many other places chosen for pre or post conference tours. All of these factors place Argentina among the leading countries to host international conferences.
- Buenos Aires
The Spaniards founded the city of Buenos Aires on the right bank of the Río de la Plata (River Plate), first in 1536 and again after its destruction in 1580. The city’s museums, art galleries and theaters attest to Buenos Aires’ reputation as one of the most important cities in South America for its cultural and artistic activities. Although it is a modern city with imposing turn-of-the-century European style buildings, it also has some well-preserved districts of typical colonial architecture.
- Weather
The October temperature in Buenos Aires is warm (spring) and evenings are cool. The average daily temperature is 20° C. Rain is common.
- Transportation
Major International Airlines have direct or connecting flights to Buenos Aires. Once in the city, it offers safe public buses and subway service. Taxis are plentiful and inexpensive; the taxi meters show the exact amount to be paid in pesos (local currency). The subway network connects the main residential neighborhoods to the commercial and financial districts. Intercity trains connect downtown with the suburbs.
- Passports and Visas
Valid passport with or without visa depending on your nationality is necessary. Inquire at the closest embassy or consulate. Visitors coming from countries not bordering Argentina are exempt from all taxes on traveling articles and purchases up to US$ 300 and an additional US$ 300, if purchased at duty free shops within the national territory. No vaccination certificate is required to enter the country.
